What is an aroid?

Published on 21 April 2023 at 18:12

Aroid is the common name for plants within the family Araceae (sometimes known as the Arum family). The distinguishing feature of all aroids is the combination of spathe and spadix (also known as the inflorescence), commonly referred to as the 'flower' between hobbyists. The actual flowers numerous, and visible upon closer inspection ON the spadix. The spathe is a modified leaf that protects the spadix.
